San Francisco International Airport, Terminal 2
The Press represents Freedom and the tremendous impact that type and the written word has had on the history of civilization. The machine was designed to be hand inked and operated by a single person, producing one print at a time. Each print is unique. The machine draws inspiration from the forms of antique presses. The Press was commissioned by Compass Books to celebrate the reopening of Terminal 2 at SFO Airport, in April 2011.
